Biography
Born in Warsaw in 1964.
Playwright, screenwriter, librettist, dramaturge. In the years 1976–82 lived in Moscow with her family. After attending a soviet High School Nr 16 (with a humanities specialization), she passed the Polish “matura” (equivalent of the SAT exams) externally in Moscow. Studied journalism at the famous Moscow’s “MGU” (Moscow State University), and after a year returned to Poland to continue her studies in Warsaw. Post-graduation she worked in journalism and, later, as a copywriter in an advertising agencies.
Following her debut in 2006 with “The Death of the Squirrel Man” (award-winning drama telling the story of Ulrike Meinhof and German RAF terrorists) continued career as a freelance creative writer.
Fluent in three languages – Polish, English and Russian.
Considered one of the most recognized and original Polish contemporary artist. Her play “Popieluszko. Black Mass” received Poland's most important drama award - the Gdynia Drama Award. Author of dramas, radio plays, plays for children, opera librettos and film scripts. Participant of many unusual Polish and international theater projects (“Europa” multi-authored and multi-lingual play - Zagreb/Birmingham/Dresden/Bydgoszcz Theatres; “Karl Hoecker’s Album” European Tour).
Winner of many Polish and European theatre awards.
Jury member of drama, directing and radio play competitions. Conducts master classes and workshops. Member of the Polish Writers Association and the Society of Authors ZAiKS.
